Negotiating With the Dead

Negotiating with the Dead - Margaret Atwood A lovely set of essays regarding writing. Atwood makes the process tangible, and at the same time raises questions and creates interest. I loved her way of writing, it was colourful and funny. It showed a real love for the craft.

My copy is now littered with notes in the margins, and little hearts where her sentences or quotes struck me as particularily beautiful. It's also full of print outs of poems she quoted only parts of, but that I found so delightful I had to have the entire text. I also liked how she is so all encompassing in her refrences, mentioning and using lots of different writers to illustrate her points. It gives the book depth.

Wonderful book, one which I think every writer should read, and would love reading. Can't wait to read some of her fictional work now.
